Friday December 3rd, A Night to Celebrate!

Mark your calendar and think PARTY! MTN will be hosting our annual celebration right here at the MTN Studios. The night's festivities are to celebrate our MTN community and also to pay a well deserved tribute to our friend and co-worker, Chief Engineer, Jim Derks. We'll be doing a live show at the event from 7:30pm to 8pm. Come and share some of your good energy with Jim and your fellow MTN patrons. We'll be sure to remind you!

Meet Alex...Americorp Member at Work

Maybe you have seen Alexandra (better known as Alex) Betzler around MTN. If you haven’t seen or heard her yet, you will, because she is MTN’s new Americorps Member. She is serving in the youth department, helping the South High Voices students and other youth producers.

Alex, a recent graduate of Macalester College, is doing a year of service at MTN through the Community Technology Empowerment Project, a local branch of Americorps that places members at community technology and youth media centers. Alex, an artist, writer and filmmaker, will use her talents to help youth at MTN make public service announcements, documentaries, studio shows and other kinds of television. She will also be coordinating our youth media camps, coming up next summer.

She stepped up to the plate very quickly, filling in admirably when her supervisor, John Akre, had to take a sudden leave. So if you see her in the hall or in an edit system, say hello to Alex and welcome her to MTN!

A Different View of the Mid-term Elections

MTN will be broadcasting coverage of the national midterm elections from the Freespeech network. The coverage will be on channel 17. Free Speech TV will offer a combination of news and views from writers, reporters and viewers on the crucial mid-term elections. And, on election night itself, (November 2nd), FSTV will lead a team of progressive and independent media entities to bring you six hours of live coverage. MTN will be presenting the live coverage from 7pm until the daily re-broadcast of Democracy Now! at 10pm. We hope that you will enjoy this coverage and we will be able to offer more programming of this kind in the future.

MTN Has A Webstream!

Maybe you're outside of Minneapolis and you want to catch one of our live shows. Well, now we have available for your viewing pleasure MTN Studios LIVESTREAM! The channel alternates between 16 and 17 when the stream is not airing live programming. We hope to catch you watching!
