MTN Channels on the Move - John Akre

MTN Channels have been moving around on the cable dial. Over the next year or so all of the city will find what was MTN channel 32 on channel 16 instead. Channel 33 is moving to channel 17, and channel 58 is moving to 67. You may already know what we're talking about, because at publication date much of north and northeast Minneapolis has already seen the channel changes. Time Warner Cable is making these changes as part of a rewiring campaign to build a fiber optic broadband cable system with traditional analog channels, digital channels, and high-speed Internet access. The cable rewiring that Time Warner is doing will eliminate the dual A and B cable wires. So you no longer need remember that channel 58A is also 36B or any of that kind of thing. According to a press release on the Time Warner Twin Cities website, they expect to be through with the work by mid-2001. Update information is offered as an option at their customer service phone number, 612-522-2000.
