MTN Walk In Certification (WIC) policies

The purpose of a Walk-In Certification is to allow someone who already has considerable video production equipment access to MTN resources and bypass MTN classes.

A person taking the Walk-In Certification pays the full fee they would pay were they taking the class. This includes any necessary membership fee.

A person has to test out of any prerequisite beginning equipment before they can test out of the advanced equipment.

For a camera WIC, you must set up the equipment and shoot some video. You should be able to answer questions about how to set manual controls if you are testing out on advanced equipment.

You will also be asked if you understand MTN's equipment check-out rules and policies.

If you do not pass the WIC, your payment will be applied to the next class for that equipment.

To schedule a Walk In Cerfication, call MTN at (612)331-8575 or send an e-mail to the Webmaster address below.

MTN Walk In Certification (WIC) to bypass the Production Workshop: Basic Class

If you wish to bypass the Production Workshop: Basic class and begin with the Production Workshop: Pro class, you must first meet with an MTN Instructor and pass a WIC on the PDX-10 camera. The cost for this WIC is $40.

To pass the WIC, you must set up the camera on a tripod, attach the battery, and put the tape in the camera. You must also take a few shots with the camera. You must also be able to point out the meaning of the audio channel buttons on the XLR audio input, and the meaning of the Manual/Auto switches.

The instructor will go over basic MTN equipment check-out policies, including MTN hours, check-out limits, fines and noncommercial program requirements.

You should also bring a sample of your video work or be able to show the instructor a clip on-line that has your name in the credits.

This WIC must be scheduled at least a day before the class begins, at the discretion of the instructor.
