Information Workshops
Tour our facilities when you attend one of our free Information Workshops listed below: Before you can sign up for a class at MTN, you must first take a free Information Workshop.
At the Information Workshop you will learn about what public access TV is and why it exists. You will also learn about the many ways you can use MTN. If you have a question about the classes, or about equipment certification, or about submitting a show, this is the place to ask.
There is no pre-registration for the Information Workshop. Just show up at MTN at the date and time below that works for you.

Video Training
You must become a member to use our video equipment. Membership is half price when you sign up for your first class.
Basic Studio Production
Prerequisite: Information Workshop.
Take this class to learn how to use one of MTN's two studios to make a program. The class covers lighting, audio, camera operation, and control room set-up. You will also learn how to plan your studio show and have hands-on time to get acquainted with the equipment.
Cost: $55. Instructor: Doug Cain. Two sessions - and optional volunteer shift.

Beginning Field Production
Prerequisite: Information Workshop.
If you want to go out into the world, record what you see and hear, and edit your tape together, this set of classes will get you started. Beginning Field Production class includes instruction on pre-production, camera, editing on the nonlinear iMovie system, lighting, and audio. You will also get hands-on experience by making a short class project.

beginning field production - new class
Prerequisite: Information Workshop.
If you want to go out into your neighborhood, record what you see and hear, and edit your tape together, this set of classes will get you started. Beginning Field Production class includes instruction on pre-production, camera, editing on the nonlinear iMovie system, and audio. You will also get hands-on experience by making a short class project and puttiing it on the web.

intermediate camera - new class
Prerequisite: Beginning Field Production.
Get access to our Sony 170 cameras and find our how to get better picture and sound using the manual functions on the camera. The class also looks at lighting, microphones, and field shooting with a crew.

Advanced Video Production
Prerequisite: Beginning Field Production
This class certifies you on MTN's Sony PD-170 DVCAM camcorders and its Final Cut Pro nonlinear edit suites. Please come with an idea for a short project to shoot and edit. Mac or PC computer background recommended, and consent of the instructor.

final cut pro - new class
Prerequisite: Beginning Field Production.
This class certifies you on MTN?s in-house Final Cut Pro Edit systems. Learn the basics of this powerful editing program. Strong computer skills required.

Put Your Video on the Internet
Reach a worldwide audience on the worldwide web. This class will show you how to use i.Movie to encode your video into a web format, how to put it on the web using a free hosting service, and how to set up a blog to give viewers a gateway to your clips. If you bring a short clip (3 minutes of less) on DV tape you can have it on the web by the end of the class. Prerequisite: i.Movie certification. Instructor: John Akre. Fee: $20. One session.

DVD Studio Pro
Prerequisite: Final Cut Pro certification
Learn how to use DVD Studio Pro to create disks with Apple?s preset menus as well as menus of your own design.

Video Seminars
Studio C
Cost $25. Prerequisite: Informational Workshop. One session.
Studio C allows you to make a simple studio talk show without a crew. To get access to the studio, watch the video or contact MTN to get a DVD. Then set up an appoinment to complete the certification.

Basic Edit Cuts
Cost $60. Prerequisite: Informational Workshop. One session.
Put together longer programs using our traditional video editing tools.

Advanced Sony DSR-250
MTN's new Sony DSR-250 Cameras are full-size ENG-style DVCAM camcorders. Get great quality video, and shoulder-stablized handheld shots. Prerequisite: Advanced camera certification. One session class. Instructor: John Akre. Fee: $50.00.

P.P.U. (Portable Production Unit)
Get access to our three digital camera package with Sony 2000 camera linked to a Videonics switcher in a compact unit. Cover events with your crew and this portable studio in a box. Prerequisites: Basic Studio Production and Advanced Camera certification.
Instructor: Art Roy.
Fee: $50.
