Board of Directors Meeting

Huber called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m.
I. Opening Business
A. Comments from public, staff and board no comments
B. Approval of the agenda. MSP Child, Jenkins.
C. Approval of Minutes from the April board meeting. MSP Nolley, Jenkins.
II. Reports
A. City of Minneapolis Mike Heskin presented
The MTN membership meeting will take place on July 22nd, 1:30-2:30pm in MTN Studio A. Comcast residential customer numbers for March are 76,404.
B. Minneapolis Public Schools Edie French presented
Keynote address of Desmond Tutu to Peace Jam attendees at North High went live on cable and Internet , video services provided video feeds to overflow audiences. The Public Schools are preparing to tape graduations in June. This will include; all main Minneapolis high schools, the adult basic education graduation, the Wellstone academy and Broadway School.
C. Comcast Lance Leupold presented
Comcast reports continued involvement in the community, this involvement includes Comcast's sponsorship of Minneapolis Mosaic, and the Northeast Parade, including a assistance with an on camera announcer during the parade. Leupold also reported on free educational programming sponsored by Comcast. MPS will be playing the program.
Just wrapped up Comcast Cares Day with Comcast employees donating time to community projects including six sites in Minneapolis. Leupold volunteered at the American Indian Opportunities Industrialization Center.
D. Commission Report - Tom Borrup
Borrup walked the Board through the approved report from the MTN Commission. Report can be found online at mtn.org. Child moved to acknowledge and accept the report. MSP Child, Nie.
E. Treasurer's Report. Hedden presented.
Hedden asked about the spending on the Web site. Colby stated funds were budgeted to build a Web 2.0 site and because we used a consultant that we needed to move the funds into a line item and out of MTN payroll. Colby stated that we have completed payment to the consultant as per his contract. Motion to accept the Treasurer's Report. MSP Child, Hedden.
F. Executive Director's Report. Pam Colby presented
Change in hours- MTN will change hours beginning Monday, May 19th, MTN will open at noon instead of 10:00 am on Monday through Fridays.
Democracy Now- MTN Democracy Now fundraiser for KFAI, SPNN and MTN on April 28 went very well. It was held at St. Joan of Arc church and 500-600 people attended. No news on MTN?s share of the proceeds as of today.
Public School's Video Production Services Contract- Colby submitted a MTN bid on this contract, due today.
Media Reform Conference- I have become the secretary of the board of the Twin Cities Media Alliance. The main purpose of the TCMA is the overseeing the Twin Cities Daily Planet, an online news aggregator featuring Twin Cities content from community media partners throughout the area. Lobby Day at Minnesota Capitol- April 24th was Community Media lobby day at our state capitol. MTN?S Director of Programming, Vera Allen attended and represented MTN.
